Easy Peasey Adult Crochet Beanie Pattern Free

Beanie hats are a staple in this house. We have beanies with mohawks, beanies with cables, beanies with holes in the top, beanies for preemies and beanies for Ninja Turtles.  We're beanie fools, yo! And, today we are adding to that long list of beanie love with a NEW, Easy Peasy 30-Minute Beanie Pattern.

Easy Peasy 30-Minute Beanie

I love that this pattern is so quick AND versatile.  We are using two strands of worsted weight yarn together, so you need less yarn of each color.  You could use two strands of the same color or add a little spice to your crochet life by using two contrasting colors. In the examples here I am using Brava Worsted in "wine" for the red and "avocado" paired with "dove heather" for that gorgeous green.

I am not a big pom pom person typically, but I picked up this pom pom maker last weekend annnnnd I fell a little in love.  I loved it so much I picked up the smaller size set as well so now I can make FOUR different sizes (here's a less expensive version with all four sizes). I've made roughly 1,087 pom poms since and they are all beautiful and fluffy little buggers. 😛

Materials:

Worsted weight yarn (in one color or two different colors)
-approx. 175 – 200 yards total
Crochet hook in size K/6.5mm

Pull from both ends of one skein for the same color or pull one strand from two separate skeins to create that peek-a-boo effect.  SO MANY OPTIONS! ♥

Finished beanie dimensions and pattern notes:

About 11" across brim when folded, 8" from crown to brim. If you would like a tighter fit or if you are making for a young adult, you could go down a hook size to a J/6mm hook.

The ch-2 at the beginning of the row does not count as a dc.

One of my testers stated it took her 35 minutes to finish, another said 40 minutes.  I timed myself and I was right at 30 minutes start to finish (although many factors will influence this time frame such as kids, pets, television, pee breaks etc).  And, the more of these hats you make the quicker you will be!

Pattern:

Row 1: Magic circle. Ch-2, dc 8 times in circle. Join with sl st to top of first dc. (8)

Row 2: Ch-2, 2dc in each st. Join with sl st to top of first dc. (16)

Row 3: Ch-2, *dc in first st, 2dc in next* repeat around. Join with sl st to top of first dc. (24)

Row 4: Ch-2, *dc in first 2 sts, 2dc in next* repeat around. Join with sl st to top of first dc. (32)

Row 5: Ch-2, *dc in first 3 sts, 2dc in next* repeat around. Join with sl st to top of first dc. (40)

Row 6: Ch-2, *dc in first 4 sts, 2dc in next* repeat around. Join with sl st to top of first dc. (48)

Row 7 – 13: Ch-2, dc around. Join with sl st to top of first dc. (48)
***if you'd like extra length, continue adding rows until desired height is reached***

Final row: Ch-1, crab stitch around. Join and weave in ends. (48)
